Open House Recap - 9/5/2025

Wow! What a weekend!

Emilee here. This Friday we had our Open House, and we were so happy to see so much of the community come out to show their support for our Grassroots Community.

This is how it went for me:

The week building up was a flurry of activity with Brigette, Stephanie, and Evelyn working full tilt to prep the space. Between cleaning the bathrooms, setting up Stephanie’s massage space (yes, we offer massage now too!), and trying to clean all 10,000 square feet of our building, we were tired.

But as the happy volunteers arrived on Friday at 4 p.m., the energy started to pick up. Yukari arrived and manned the desks while Paula was snapping photos. Meanwhile, Megan and Marietta were helping set up the yoga room. Olivia, our Arbonne Health Consultant, was setting up her table as the mayor, Lori Bagwell, made her grand appearance.

Between greeting family, connecting with our current students, and introducing myself to new people, there was never a dull moment. It wasn’t until after the event that I was able to try the delicious food that Cierra and Justin prepared for our gathering.

And then the ribbon cutting—where we, along with our entire community, made our way out to our new sign. Brigette and I were presented with our certificate, and Mayor Bagwell christened our building with her deepest wishes and continued partnership with the city of Carson City.

She asked us to pick a word, and as my mind turned blank, it was my ten-year-old daughter who offered our word: Satsang.

Can you write a more beautiful moment into living history? For those of you who are unfamiliar, a Satsang is the Sanskrit word for a group of people who come together for spiritual development. So as Brigette and I gripped the comically large and illustrious golden scissors, our community sprang forth as one as we all yelled, “Satsang.”

And time stood still. Seeing all the smiling faces and wonderful visages of our yoga community, I am still awed by this experience of being one of the people at the helm of this beautiful vessel.

This community represents what is best about the world: that people are resilient and inspiring. This community is filled with humans who are not afraid to step up to the plate and take the challenge of being the best version of themselves. And I can’t think of anything the world needs more than a little more appreciation for the discomfort, for the change, for the growth that only comes from that “zone of proximal development.”

After the ribbon cutting, we frolicked back inside to start our yoga class, which ended up being a 45-minute practice that closed with a brief sound bath. We had all levels in there, but it was wonderful to feel the presence of so many people who enjoy our space and find value in its existence.

So we thank you. Each and every one of you. Every Seed Card holder has added fodder to our soil, while every monthly, six-month, or year-long membership is our root system. You, our community, provide this space for one another, and we are so grateful to be growing this Satsang with you.

Our next community event will center on the Fall Equinox with Brigette leading us through a guided meditation and journaling session. We will bring in all the flavors you are coming to appreciate about our space, so please peruse the resources provided below to continue to fill your bucket for this fall season of transition.

Find out to how to break unwanted patterns in this edition of Moonshine from Brigette Pugh

There is no shortage of magical moon energy fueling the next two weeks when we will experience a lunar eclipse during the full moon on September 7th and a solar eclipse during the new moon on September 21st. And that’s not all…just as eclipse season comes to a close, we transition to a new season with the Autumn Equinox on September 22nd. Whew, right?

Eclipse season is a harbinger of change and evolution, which sounds destabilizing and, frankly, it is–but it’s a guided evolution, leading us in the direction of our higher purpose. It is pattern breaking energy but for unwanted patterns. If we use our yoga practice to stay open to messaging (even the messages we didn’t really ask to receive) we can clarify our purpose and find energetic alignment during this time.
