Happy September!
Squirrels remind me of this time of year. They might have that summer steal-your-chips-while-you’re-out-in-the-water vibe, but their energy is also so focused. And aren’t they adaptable? You’ll find them just as often racing across the ground as leaping through the trees. Did you know squirrels can store food in hundreds—sometimes even thousands—of places?
Grassroots Yoga & Fitness carries that same spirit of abundance. Each of our members is like a little storehouse of energy and resourcefulness, and together you create the richness of this community. I feel so honored to share what’s ahead as we step into fall.
We’ve got a lot on the docket to fill your cup: massage, meditation, and three new classes on the schedule. We can’t wait to celebrate the season with you!
Friday 9/5 – Open House
WE ARE FINALLY OPEN! Our sign has been installed and we are no longer in hiding! Come celebrate with us this Friday at 5:00 PM where we will host a welcoming event for our community. There will be a free class – reserve your spot — and we are inviting the whole community in to celebrate. So bring your children and come celebrate our wellness community. Even the mayor will be there!

ANOTHER Yoga-For-A Cause Starting Sunday 9/7 – Donations-Based Yoga with Patt Quinn-Davis
We have another yoga teacher in training making her debut this month. Patt Quinn Davis is a retired English teacher and publications teacher from Carson High School who is also certified in 500 hours of meditation. This year, she added yoga to her résumé and is launching her required 12-week teaching practicum where she will offer a gentle, meditation-style yoga class on Sundays from 11:15 AM – 12:15 PM. Whether new to the practice or having a few years in, all will enjoy a practice that brings grace and ease to daily life.
So come and enjoy. A $5 contribution is welcome. All donations will benefit the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada.
Restorative Yoga Returns - Tuesday 9/9
Restorative yoga is back on the weekly schedule! Come enjoy a meditative rest from 7:15–8:15 PM on Tuesdays. Restorative yoga is a beautiful practice where you lay down and hold poses for 3–5 minutes. In this practice, you rest the nervous system and release tension held in our connective tissue. This is a wonderful complement to those who are very active as well as a nice access point for people who are new to yoga. Come get ready for restful sleep with Emilee on Tuesdays starting September 9th.

We are still hosting donation-based yoga in the park for those who are interested in attending or trying out yoga. Saturdays at 9:00 AM near the Farmer’s Market, we gather under the trees and explore a playful practice. All donations go to Partnership Carson City.

Shout Outs
It wouldn’t be a community without some acknowledgement of our members:
Misses Brown: Send a little love her way or, better yet, book a Reiki session with her. Reach out at 1-916-923-8493. I recently had a session with her and found relief for some hip pain I’ve been dealing with.
Sherry Stofko: This little gem is the smiley face in the corner who always drops into a headstand during every class. We want to thank Sherry for her generous contribution of the new swag that we have up front.
Sally Rogers: The Grassroots Admin team would like to extend a big thank you to Sally Rogers, who generously donated a large majority of the money we needed for our sign. We are so grateful to have community members who offer support of every kind.
Cierra Bannister and Meghan Mineo: We could not do anything without the support of some very yogis who contribute their developed pallets to our events. These women are remarkable at bringing their skill sets to our facility and sharing them so that we all benefit.
Paula Billman: Ever notice that our blankets smell so good? Please thank Paula Billman when you see her. In addition to be our Lady of Laundry, she is also help organize our clothing swap.
